For the purpose of cultivating qualified International Chinese language teachers, developing international Chinese language education talents and facilitating Chinese language education in other countries, the Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education established the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship (hereinafter,“Scholarship”), focusing on training qualified overseas Chinese teachers. Confucius Institutes, independently operated Confucius Classrooms, certain HSK test centers, Chinese language (education) departments of foreign universities, professional organizations for Chinese language instruction abroad, Chinese embassies (consulates) abroad (hereinafter,“recommending institutions”) may recommend outstanding students and currently-employed Chinese language teachers to study International Chinese Language Education or related majors in Chinese universities and colleges . As one of the authorized host institutions, Tianjin Foreign Studies University (hereinafter,“TFSU”) hereby posts the application procedures as follows：
I.ELIGIBILITY
All applicants shall be
a) Non-Chinese citizens；
b) In good physical and mental condition, with good academic performance and conduct；
c) Committed to the Chinese language education, teaching and related work;
d) Between the ages of 16 and 35 (as of September 1st, 2022). Applicants currently working as Chinese language teachers shall not be over 45.
II.SCHOLARSHIP TYPES AND QUALIFICATIONS
1．Scholarship for One-Semester Study
Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages、Chinese Language and Literature
The program commences from February 2023, and provides scholarships of a maximum of 5 months. Applicants holding the X1 or X2 visa are not eligible.
A minimum score of 180 for HSK 3 test and an HSKK test score are required.
Scholarship forOnline Study
One-Year Online Study Program
The program commences from February 2023.A minimum score of 180 for HSK 3 test is required and those who provide HSKK scores are preferred.
One-Semester Online Study Program
The program commences from February 2023.HSK score is required (no specific requirements for grades and scores).
III.APPLICATION PROCEDURES
Please log on the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship website (cis.chinese.cn) to search for recommending institution and host institution. Upload application materials online; and track the application progress, comments and results.
Scholarship holders need to confirm with the host institutions to go through the procedures of studying , and print out the scholarship certificate online.
Register with the university according to the designated date on the letter of admission.

V.APPLICATION MATERIAL
1.Scanned copy of passport photo page (required for each level of application);
2.Scanned copy of HSK, HSKK score report (valid for two years);
3.Recommendation letter from recommendation agency;
4.In-service Chinese teachers should attach the certificate of employment and recommendation letter issued by the working institution;
5.Applicants under the age of 18 must submit a proof letter of authorization signed by guardians in China;
6.Applicants also need to provide other supporting materials required by the host institution.
VI.OTHERS
1.Incomplete or unqualified applications will not be processed.
2.Applicants will be disqualified in terms of fraudulent application materials or non-personal submission.
3.Applicants shall be familiar with the specific criteria and deadlines for registration, and submit necessary documents according to specific requirements.
4.Applicants who fail to register on time, fail to pass the health examination, withdraw, and/or suspend from school will be deprived of their scholarship.
5.Scholarship winners who cannot register with TFSU on time must inform us of reasons in written form within 15 days before registration. The scholarship will be canceled if the one fails to register without any reason.
